Nettle is one of those plants that demands your attention — sometimes quite literally. Its hollow, hair-like trichomes deliver a sharp sting upon contact, a defense mechanism that has earned it the name "stinging nettle" the world over. Originally native to Europe, nettle has followed human civilization across the globe, taking root in wet environments and moist soils on nearly every continent. It has fed people as a wild food, clothed them — its fibers long considered comparable in quality to flax and hemp across Northern Europe — and supported their wellbeing as a beloved herbal tea for centuries. Few plants have offered so much, in so many ways, for so long.
Our organic nettle leaf is harvested in spring from established, deep-rooted stands in Europe, collected at the ideal moment — after the plant has had time to mature, but before it flowers and its energy shifts.
